Chopstick Race Winners

Posted 24th Nov
Author Christopher Golden (Chairperson)

The 2023 annual Chopstick Championships are over! The competition was fierce this year. Our winners are as follows: In 1st place, our P.R.O, Lucia (left), with an eye-watering time of 27.38 seconds to move 20 tinfoil balls with chopsticks. That's only 1.36 sec per ball! In 2nd place, Elisa (centre) had a time of 28.92 seconds. In 3rd place, Kelly-Anne (right) had a time of 31.29 seconds. Kelly-Anne was the first up to set the record and certainly made it hard to beat. Our 1st place special prize was a set of Japanese chopsticks, along with a choice of mochi and ramune. 2nd place was mochi and ramune, and 3rd place was ramune. We hope you enjoyed the well-earned prizes. Thanks to all members who attended, the event was a huge success and really kicked off our society activities with a bang. It's going to be a great year!

About Japanese Society

The Japanese Society in ATU Sligo works to promote Japanese culture and strengthen Irish-Japanese connections through cultural exchange. The Society also supports Japanese students studying in ATU Sligo. It is the place for those who are interested in Japan to engage with and learn more about Japanese culture, food, and language. We hold regular fun meet-ups, including special events (game nights, movie nights, food and cultural trips, seasonal/festival celebrations and Japanese language conversation/exchange sessions).

Whether you're interested in Japan's cuisine, culture or people, Asian cultures in general, or want to make friends with people who are, the society welcomes you!
