About Sign Language Society

The Sign Language Group is a relaxed, beginner-friendly space for staff and students who are curious about Irish Sign Language (ISL). We run informal weekly drop-in sessions where members can practise the basics, build confidence, and learn together in a supportive environment.

This is not a formal class and no prior experience is needed — whether you know a few signs, the alphabet, or are completely new, you are very welcome. The group is about shared learning, connection, and creating more awareness of ISL on campus.

Deaf and hard-of-hearing students are especially welcome to join, whether to practise ISL, connect with others, or simply spend time in a space where sign language is centred and respected.

By joining, you’ll meet others interested in sign language, practise at your own pace, and be part of a friendly community that values accessibility and inclusion. Come along, give it a go, and see where it takes you.
